Description | A survey of the social, political, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States from the pre-Columbian era to the Civil War/Reconstruction period. United States History I includes the study of pre-Columbian, colonial, revolutionary, early national, slavery and sectionalism, and the Civil War/Reconstruction eras. Themes that may be addressed in United States History I include: American settlement and diversity, American culture, religion, civil and human rights, technological | ||||||||||

1. Discover the events that led to early exploration and colonization of the Americas 2. Summarize the reasons for colonial discontent with Great Britain that led to revolution and independence. 3. Demonstrate a knowledge of the documents that are the basis for our government. 4. Describe foreign policy as it developed in the 18th and 19th century. 5. Analyze economic development as it influenced the young nation. 6. Understand the causes of sectionalism that divided the nation and led to the Civil War. 7. Understand the Reconstruction process and the reasons it didn't work. |
